The Foundry College of the National Open University was jointly founded by the China Foundry Association and the National Open University in 2013. For more than ten years, under the leadership of the China Foundry Association and the National Open University, the Foundry College has adhered to the school motto of "respecting learning and benefiting all, and teaching without distinction", adhered to the general requirement of "establishing morality and cultivating talents for casting", and took "creating a first-class industry college" as the overall goal. By actively exploring a new talent training model that connects modern vocational and continuing education and integrates industry and education, it has effectively promoted the transformation and upgrading of the foundry industry and the construction and development of the skilled talent team of employees. In recent years, the Foundry College has stabilized its school scale, and the number and quality of students have steadily increased, cultivating a large number of application-oriented and skilled talents on the front line of production for the industry. By 2024, the college will have 10 learning centers across the country and more than 20,000 students.
